Kyrie trying to recruit LeBron to the Mavs? Twitter isn’t convinced. ‘Brace yourselves’

Picture this: The flashing blue and white lights glittering high in the rafters above the recognizable horse logo painted on the basketball court inside the American Airlines Center, as the starting lineup for the 2023-24 Dallas Mavericks is announced in a booming tone.

A lineup that includes wunderkind Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and … LeBron James?

According to The Athletic, it’s a far-fetched possibility. A far, far, far, far, far, far, far — no, a seriously far — fetched one.

First things first — Irving would have to re-sign with Dallas during the offseason in order to get this pipe dream into play. If he were to stay, he’s eligible to sign a five-year, $272.9 million contract whereas if he bailed on Big D, he’s eligible to sign a four-year, $198.5 million contract with another team, Sports Illustrated reports.

Second, James would need to say toodle-oo to Los Angeles, a city where son Bronny just decided to stay in with his commitment to ball with the University of Southern California.

Third, the Mavericks would have to deal Doncic, the actual face of their franchise, in order to begin to lure James since they have no other strong candidates to trade. Basically, they’d have to offer up 80 percent of their roster, their first-round draft picks for the next 72 years, the 2011 Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy and Mark Cuban’s shadow in order to secure the four-time NBA champ.

While the stars also would need to align with salary matching, trading, and other NBA nonsense, the laughs rumbling over social media in regards to this rumor seem to revolve around how this potentially entertaining storyline would play out on the court.

Mainly, between three players known for their ... dramatics?

Twitter did not hold back.

I wouldn’t hold your breath, Mavs fans.
