Kylian Mbappe finally breaks silence on Stockholm incident – ‘It’s just a lack of understanding’

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has recently addressed several topics that have kept him in the spotlight during an interview with French channel Canal +.

Among these is a serious allegation involving an alleged incident in October in Stockholm.

According to an anonymous complainant, Mbappe was implicated in a case of sexual assault. However, the French forward has maintained that he is completely unaware of the matter.

Mbappe’s take on the incident

Mbappe explained that the accusations came as a shock to him. He stated that he had not received any official communication, such as a legal summons, regarding the incident.

“I was surprised. I’m always surprised. These things happen that you never see coming. I didn’t receive anything, no summons. I read the same thing as everyone else,” he began saying.

The Swedish authorities have reportedly made no statements about the matter, and Mbappe emphasised that he does not feel involved.

“The Swedish government didn’t say anything. I’m not involved. It’s just a lack of understanding. It didn’t bother me, because I’ve never felt involved.” 

Instead, he has chosen to focus on his career and wait for the situation to unfold, expressing confidence in his innocence.

“There’s a lot of noise, but I’ve always had the same intention, which is to concentrate on my work and see how it will end,” he noted.

Mbappe’s version of the story

Adding to this situation, Mbappe recounted his experience when the incident came to public attention. He mentioned taking a short break during a few days off, which led to him being photographed while leaving a restaurant.

This photograph, it seems, added fuel to the media frenzy surrounding the allegations. He shared that his coach, Carlo Ancelotti, had advised him to visit a quieter, less public destination during his time off.

“It wasn’t even an afternoon. I had five days off and I decided to leave. I had to go somewhere else, but the coach told me to go somewhere less exposed.”

However, the media attention followed him even then, with journalists and fans waiting outside.

“I’m doing well, I’m comfortable. Before I left, I had this photo of leaving the restaurant.”

While on a flight shortly after the restaurant visit, Mbappe learned about the accusations from news outlets. He reiterated that he had no knowledge of the complainant or the events described.

“There were a lot of people ready to greet me at the exit, a lot of journalists. When I’m on the plane, I receive the news. I have no idea who (the complainant) is,” he concluded.

Despite the noise surrounding the claims, Mbappe remains focused on his work and performance with Real Madrid, choosing not to let the controversy disrupt his professional goals.
