Former Paris Saint-Germain standout Kylian Mbappé opted for his mother to handle his interests. However, one French media member believes this is a terrible decision on the player’s part.

The Ligue 1 side already had experience with mothers who can become a headache when Adrien Rabiot was part of the team. Nonetheless, Cyril Hanouna revealed that Mbappé’s mother is on a different level than Rabiot’s and notes that Fayza Lamari gave PSG nightmares.

“Kylian Mbappé is a great guy, but let’s be honest, the real issue at PSG was his mom,” Hanouna said on Europe 1 (h/t Le10Sport). “PSG’s executives told me: ‘We dealt with Rabiot’s mother, but compared to Mbappé’s, she was easy. It’s unbelievable!

“Kylian’s mother causes problems for a lot of people in football—everyone knows it. It’s no secret. On the other hand, his dad? He’s a great guy. Everyone loves him. She wanted to control the club during the last contract negotiations.

“She’s the one making all the decisions, and it’s become a real challenge for Kylian. To get him to do something as simple as take a photo, you have to go through his mom. She’s extremely involved, and at PSG, working with her is tough. People who know Kylian or have worked with him all say the same thing—his biggest problem is his mom.”

The Frenchman found himself in controversy during this international break after he wasn’t called up for the UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium this month.

However, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has faced further criticism after reports emerged that he had been spotted in a nightclub in Sweden on the night France secured a UEFA Nations League win over Israel.

Despite missing their captain, France secured two wins in this window, and it will be interesting to see if he does show up for next month’s international action.
