Kyle Lowry on trade rumours: 'The lies people tell in the media are amazing'

Kyle Lowry has been the subject of rampant trade speculation for the better part of six weeks or so, and suffice to say he's fed up.

Lowry's contract expires at the end of the season, and while the Raptors have battled back to the middle of the Eastern Conference table, some have speculated that the team should try to maximize their return on value before he eventually walks in free agency. The six-time All-Star has been linked to his hometown Philadelphia 76ers although Lowry's agent, Mark Bartelstein, rejected this rumour and Lowry finally spoke about the matter Tuesday.

"The lies people tell in the media are amazing!! Don't put thing out when they ain't come from me!!" Lowry wrote on his Instagram story.

It's more than fair for Lowry to be frustrated with the constant speculation as he's given no inclination that he plans to leave the Raptors at the end of the season, although many have assumed that's his plan as the team's core of Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby represent the future of the franchise. Even if Lowry were to leave, it's free agency, after all. And though his camp has rejected any notion of entertaining a trade to the 76ers — or other destinations — people will continue to put Lowry in trade simulators, speculating about the future, instead of enjoying what could be his final season with the Raptors.

The Ringer's Ryen Russillo added fuel to the fire, stating on the Bill Simmons Podcast that Lowry has been telling people around him that he's been anticipating a trade, a seemingly baseless theory that former Raptors swingman Oshae Brissett flatly rejected.

We're not going to add to the speculation any further and will have some perspective while enjoying the best player in franchise history in the midst of another stellar season.
