Kyle Lowry to undergo MRI on foot after leaving vs. Nets

Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry will undergo an MRI on the arch of his left foot, after leaving Game 4 against the Brooklyn Nets during the first quarter, head coach Nick Nurse told reporters post-game.

Nurse also clarified, via Lori Ewing of The Canadian Press, that it would take “a hell of an injury” to keep the six-time All-Star out of the second round.

Lowry was originally ruled out with what was described as a turned left ankle, after colliding with Nets guard Chris Chiozza.

After the first sequence following a timeout, Lowry signalled that he needed to leave the game, intentionally fouled, then headed to the locker room.

An initial update ruled that Lowry’s status would be determined, but Lowry was ruled out shortly thereafter for the remainder of the game.

Lowry then left the building to undergo diagnostic imaging, Raptors PR confirmed via Blake Murphy of The Athletic.

Lowry has submitted one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 19.4 points, 7.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game, while playing himself into consideration for All-Defense honours.

Despite Lowry being out, the Raptors responded with 100 bench points, thrashing the Nets 150-122 to complete the four-game sweep.
