Is Kyle Davidson Looking To Trade With Avalanche?

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to be active at the trade deadline. As one of the worst teams in the NHL, they are going to mostly be sellers looking to add assets for the future. That doesn’t mean that they won’t add someone if they are an impact player locked in for a long time but making a playoff push isn’t in the cards this year.

There is also a chance that the Hawks make a big move during the summer. Whether that’s a big signing, trade, or something in between, they likely won’t be quiet.

Kyle Davidson may already be shopping around. This speculation is based on his recent activity. Davidson has been at the last two Colorado Avalanche games and they weren't playing the Blackhawks.

On Wednesday, Colorado lost in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets and on Monday they lost in regulation to the Minnesota Wild. That concluded a mediocre 2-2-1 five-game homestand for them but they look to be a Stanley Cup contender once again.

Why was Davidson taking in the Avalanche so much this week? Do they want Seth Jones? Is Ryan Donato or Taylor Hall an option for their scoring depth? Only time will tell.

Could he be evaluating the play of Mikko Rantanen in person? The superstar winger is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season unless the Avalanche extend him. He'd look great on a line with Connor Bedard but guys as consequential as Rantanen don't hit the market that often.

The trade deadline isn't until March 7th but it will go quickly. The Four Nations Faceoff taking up two weeks in between makes things interesting as well. It is unlikely that anything is pending but you never know at this point.

All GMs are watching every team but Davidson being out in Colorado while his team isn't with him is notable.
