Kraken's Shane Wright To Miss Second Consecutive Game As Healthy Scratch
Seattle Kraken forward Shane Wright will be a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game as he'll be out of the lineup against the Nashville Predators.
Joey Daccord is first off the ice at morning skate. Your likely starter against the Predators.
Shane Wright is out working way late with Vince Dunn, so looking like he’ll be healthy scratched for a second straight game.— Kate Shefte (@KateShefte) November 20, 2024
Wright was healthy scratched on Sunday and was replaced by Ben Meyers against the New York Rangers. HC Dan Bylsma has elected to keep the lineup intact, which means Wright will watch the game from the press box.
Through 18 games, the 20-year-old centre has been able to notch just one goal and one assist. He's averaging 12:25 of time on ice but has recorded just 12 shots on goal this season, 0.67 shots per game. His individual stats and impact haven't been good enough to start the season despite some of his on-ice team numbers looking fairly strong.

Wright's development dating back to his time in the OHL has been bumpy. He had an excellent first season as an exceptional status player before missing his entire second year due to COVID-19. When the OHL returned, his third season was inconsistent and had scouts wanting more from his game. A once-projected first-overall pick fell to the Kraken at fourth overall.
His first season with the Kraken didn't go quite how he would have liked. He was a healthy scratch for quite a while and played very limited minutes in the NHL before he was sent down to the AHL on a conditioning loan. When that finished, Wright was sent back to the OHL. He wasn't eligible to play in the AHL last year but was granted permission to do so. His rookie season was a success and many expected he would be a vital player for the Kraken during the 2024-25 campaign, but it's yet to all click for Wright.
The Kraken coaching staff is hoping that he can watch from a different angle and use what he's learning to find his game and confidence. If he's unable to do so when he returns, conversations about reassignment to the Coachella Valley Firebirds will need to be had.
