Kraken's Potential Trade Candidate Returns To Practice In Non-Contact Jersey
Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde returned to practice today in a non-contact jersey.
Gourde has been out since Jan. 2 after suffering a lower-body injury. The 33-year-old is currently on the injured reserve but is beginning to ramp up his recovery process and is inching closer to a return.

Before sustaining the injury, Gourde had scored six goals and 16 points in 35 games. His contributions defensively and to the bottom six are unmatched and something the Kraken have felt like they've been missing.
What the Kraken have felt in his absence could become a permanent feeling. Many playoff teams are searching for what Gourde provides and contending teams have been rumoured to be interested in acquiring Gourde. Insiders have reported that he could fetch the Kraken a late first-round pick but the Kraken are hoping to re-sign him.

The Kraken remain eight points out of a playoff spot and as the deadline approaches and signs continue to point towards the franchise becoming sellers. Gourde returning a month before the deadline is great news for the Kraken. If he plays well and helps the Kraken make their way back into the playoff race then they may look to extend him but if he plays well and they continue to lose, he will be building up his trade value.
Gourde still has to participate in practice with contact at least once but the process taking shape is wonderful news for the Kraken.
