Kraken's Oscar Fisker Molgaard and Oliver Bjorkstrand Join Denmark In Their Quest To Qualify For The 2026 Olympics

Seattle Kraken's Oliver Bjorkstrand and Oscar Fisker Molgaard will join Team Denmark in their quest to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The qualification tournament runs from Aug. 29th - Sep. 1st in Aalborg, Denmark.

Bjorkstrand has represented Denmark at the U-18s, World Juniors and the World Championship. He’ll now hope Denmark can advance and he can represent them on the biggest stage.

In his career, Bjorkstrand has played 11 games at the World Juniors, 10 at the World Championship and six at the U-18s.

His international and NHL experience will be heavily relied upon during the qualification tournament. He'll play on Denmark's top line and first power play line.

Fisker Molgaard has represented Denmark at this past World Championship and the WJC-20 D1A. At the World Championship, he scored one goal and added three assists in seven games.

Not only will this be a great opportunity for Fisker Molgaard to help his country make the Olympics, but a strong tournament can go a long way in his development.

The 2023 second-round pick had a strong second half of the season in the SHL and continued that positive play at the 2024 World Championships. With HV71 he scored nine goals and 21 points in 50 games.

Denmark will be competing against Norway, Great Britain, and Japan for a birth at the 2026 Winter Olympics held in Italy. If Denmark wins the qualifier, it'll mark their second-ever Olympic appearance in ice hockey, having made their debut in the event in 2022.
