Kraken Veteran Continues To Rediscover His Offensive Game

Seattle Kraken veteran forward Jaden Schwartz is having one of the best offensive seasons of his career as he enters the later stages of his career.

Schwartz has scored just 20 goals and 40 points once since the 2019-20 season but has had an offensive resurgence, scoring 16 goals and 33 points in 47 games during the 2024-25 campaign. He leads the Kraken in goals and is tied with Jared McCann in points. At 32 years old, with multiple seasons where decline was evident, it was expected that Schwartz could continue to take steps back.

Not only has Schwartz found success in the goals and points department, but his underlying numbers have been great, and he has helped Kaapo Kakko and Matty Beniers find their games. According to Moneypuck.com, the Schwartz, Beniers, and Kakko line has produced the highest expected goals percentage on the team, followed closely by Shane Wright, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Eeli Tolvanen.

His veteran leadership and play style have done wonders for the pair of young forwards, which is why he is on pace to score 28 goals and 58 points. His hat trick on Saturday was a prime example of how he has rediscovered his offensive game.

His first goal sees him sneak the puck by the Los Angeles Kings goaltender after Kakko was quick to take advantage of a Kings turnover, but his second goal is highlighted by his awareness and positioning. He's in a good defensive position in his own end before being the first to react to the turnover. He jumps up into the play creating a 2-on-1 that he and Beniers work to perfection. His hat trick goal was placed in the Kings' vacant goal but was another great example of his anticipation to get into the correct spots.

The season hasn't gone the way the Kraken had hoped and will likely be sellers at this year's trade deadline. If Schwartz continues his strong play, he could fetch an excellent return and head to a contending team.
