Kraken Set For Final Home Showdown With Sharks
The Kraken host the Sharks Thursday night at Climate Pledge Arena for the third of four meetings this season, with San Jose winning the first two, 4-2 and 8-5. This is the final game of the series in Seattle.
Despite those losses, the Kraken hold a 7-6-0 all-time record against the Sharks, including a solid 4-2-0 mark at home. Seattle will look to bounce back and secure a much-needed win in front of their fans.
Several Kraken players are in strong form heading into tonight’s game. Eeli Tolvanen, Matty Beniers, and Shane Wright each enter the matchup on three-game point streaks. Beniers and Wright have both recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists) during this run.
Veteran forward Jaden Schwartz leads active Kraken skaters in career production against San Jose, posting 9 goals, 16 assists, and 25 points in 33 games. Andre Burakovsky has also been effective, ranking second in both goals (8) and points (18) over 26 games against the Sharks.
Other notable Kraken contributors include Chandler Stephenson, who has 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists) in 21 career games against San Jose, and Oliver Bjorkstrand, who has tallied 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) in 16 games.
Joey Daccord is expected to be in net as Philipp Grubauer has been placed on waivers. Daccord has appeared in four games against the Sharks, posting a 1-3-0 record with a 2.33 GAA and .889 SV%.
The Kraken are in desperate need of points as they race for a wild card spot. Puck drop is scheduled for 7PM PST.
