Kraken Recall Ales Stezka From The Coachella Valley Firebirds

The Seattle Kraken have recalled Ales Stezka from the Coachella Valley Firebirds for the second time in less than a week.

Philipp Grubauer suffered an "accident" at home and the hope was that he would be ready for Tuesday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. With the transaction to call Stezka up from the AHL, it appears that Grubauer may not be ready on Tuesday.

Over the weekend, Stezka was sent back down to the Firebirds and was the starter for their game on Sunday against the Ontario Reign. He went on to stop 37 of 39 shots he faced, finishing as the first star of the night in a 4-2 win.

The outing was the 27-year-olds best start of the season, snapping a streak of three consecutive games of allowing four or more goals. The Kraken don't play a back-to-back until Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17 but the expectation is that Grubauer will be back by then.

Stezka will likely serve as the backup for Joey Daccord and he'll only appear in case of any unforeseen emergencies.
