Kraken Prospect Is Forming A Formidable Duo With New Teammate

Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton is forming a formidable duo with Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall.

Catton is in his third season with the Spokane Chiefs and they have finally added offensive talent around him to maximize his skill set. He put together an incredible draft-eligible season, scoring 54 goals and 116 points in 68 games. His WHL dominance was why the Kraken selected him with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 draft.

This year, Catton earned himself a spot on Team Canada's World Junior roster. His return to Spokane after the tournament was highlighted by the Chiefs acquiring the WHL's leading scorer. In just 31 games, Cristall has scored 31 goals and 72 points.

Since the trade, the two forwards have played three games together and have put up ridiculous numbers. In their first game together against the Everett Silvertips, the top team in the WHL, neither of them recorded any points. In their following two games against the Wenatchee Wild and the Kelowna Rockets, the pair dominated.

Against the Ice, Catton recorded a goal and six assists and Cristall recorded a hat trick and four assists. Last night against the Rockets it was Catton's turn to record a hat trick, finishing with four points and Cristall two goals and three assists.

Catton and Cristall finding chemistry this quickly is not all that surprising. They are both regarded as the two of the most skilled prospects in the world and are both dual threats offensively. They are creative playmakers who don't shy away from getting in on the goal-scoring action themselves. They are great on their edges allowing them to control the offensive play on the cycle and in transition.

The Chiefs are in third place in the Western Conference and are poised to go on a deep playoff run.
