Kompany and Bayern laud Musiala after Bochum win
Having recovered from a hip problem, Jamal Musiala made his first start for Bayern Munich in around a month on Sunday, helping his team to a crushing 5-0 victory over VfL Bochum.
The 21-year-old capped a fine performance with a goal and an assist before being taken off just before the hour mark, earning praise from Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl.
"The fact that Jamal is an exceptional player is also the reason why we want to extend his contract and make him the new face of FC Bayern," Eberl said in a post-match interview.
"He is an exceptional player with exceptional intuition when it comes to dribbling. And of course a player like that makes others better," Eberl added.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany had similar praise for the Germany international.
"Every time Jamal is in the team, we have that something extra. But the others also did very well. Jamal has unique, special qualities. We all see that. But it’s always about the team. From my point of view, it was a very good performance. We’re pleased," Kompany said.
Musiala has now scored four goals and provided an assist in six Bundesliga games for Bayern this season.
