Kitchener Rangers Sign Colorado Avalanche Prospect & University Of Michigan Forward
The Kitchener Rangers had a quiet trade deadline despite having multiple second and third-round picks in future years to deal with.
They sit in third place in the Western Conference — and third in overall standings — with the second-fewest goals against. Why weren't they more active in the trade market?
Well, the Rangers earlier in the season traded with the Kingston Frontenacs to acquire Slovak right-shot defenseman Jakub Chromiak. Once the team knew they would have an open import slot with Eduard Sale not returning, they were able to bring in the offensive-minded blueliner who has been very solid for them.
Then, after the NCAA rule change, they successfully recruited Boston University commit and Chicago Blackhawks 2024 third-rounder Jack Pridham.

Pridham has been an outright fantastic and game-changing pickup for Kitchener. He's got 11 goals and 23 points in 20 games to begin his OHL career and has gone only five games without registering a point.
Earlier in the week, the Rangers once again put their recruiting hard hats on, but this time it was about bringing over a player who has already been playing in the NCAA.
University of Michigan forward and Colorado Avalanche 2024 seventh-rounder, Christian Humphreys, has joined the OHL to play for Kitchener and give their offense an extra boost.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native had one assist in ten games as a member of the Michigan Wolverines.
Before joining the NCAA, he was a member of the U.S. National Team Development Program for two years.
He won gold at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge in 2022, recording five goals and eight points. Humphreys also won a silver medal at the IIHF U18 World Junior Championship in 2024, scoring four times in seven games.

Elite Prospects wrote this about the American center:
"Humphreys is always positioned in the right spot. He racks up the touches by staying inside space in the offensive zone and perfectly timed reloading routes in transition. He meticulously breaks down opposing defenses by slowing down, deceiving, and waiting for his target to pop free before connecting with a precise long-range pass. A disruptive defensive game and steals on the forecheck round out his game."
Christian made his OHL debut Friday night at the Aud wearing No. 48 and playing on a line with Pridham and Ottawa Senators prospect Luke Ellinas.
