"Since the start of the year, I have been having schools reach out to me and getting in contact," said Guindon. "Eventually when Vermont reached out it caught my attention ... when it came time to make a decision that was the spot I felt was best for me."

The announcement means that Guindon, who is an overage player, will join the NCAA next season and continue his hockey career. He joins a slowly growing list of OHL players, including Kitchener Rangers goaltender Jackson Parsons and Saginaw Spirit forward Calem Mangone, who will make the transition toward the NCAA next season.

For Guindon, the option to go to school and continue to work towards a professional hockey contract is a complete game changer.

"The whole junior experience is awesome," said Guindon. "Being able to play NCAA is huge because it is an extension to your competitive hockey career."

Guindon is a skilled forward who thrives when given the opportunity to showcase his skills in space. He is a good shooter and a strong puck mover.

He spent the last three years playing for Owen Sound before being traded to Kingston in the summer. With his skill set, it should come as no surprise that he is a very important part of Kingston's lineup.

In 25 games with the Frontenacs, Guindon has scored 14 goals and 20 assists. He is second on the team in points trailing only Jacob Battaglia.

While Guindon is currently on pace to have his most productive OHL season, he has always managed to score points. In 229 games, he has a total of 219 points making him nearly a point per game player.

What ultimately swayed him towards Vermont was the way he felt his style matched the team's style of play.

"The fact that I can play hockey on a good team with young coaches that like to play fast was really convincing to me," said Guindon. "Once they extended the offer to go play for them it was a pretty easy decision."
