Kings Rival Locks Up Star Forward
The Los Angeles Kings' rival; the Edmonton Oilers, have locked up Leon Draisaitl to an eight year, $112 million deal.
Draisaitl has one more year remaining on his previous contract before the new extension kicks in, in 2025-26. His current AAV is $8.5 million before it changes to $14 million.

The increase in the AAV will likely take up the entire increase of the salary cap next season. Which will put the Oilers in a tight spot financially when it comes to signing Connor McDavid, when his contract up after 2025-26.
The Kings and Oilers have played each other in three straight playoffs first round series, with the Oilers winning all three of them.
Unfortunately, the Kings will need to play against Draisaitl for the next nine seasons unless, he gets traded.
So buckle up Kings' fans, it could make for a long nine years
