Kimbo Slice's Son, Kevin Ferguson Jr., to Debut at Bellator 160

Kimbo Slice (real name Kevin Ferguson) was an enigma in the combat sports world, rising from internet fame for his backyard brawl videos on YouTube to fighting at the highest levels of mixed martial arts, including stints in the UFC and Bellator.

Now, his eldest son, Kevin Ferguson, Jr. (aka Baby Slice) is set to follow in his MMA footsteps. Following a report by the Associated Press, Bellator confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday that Ferguson, Jr., would make his professional MMA debut at Bellator 160 on Aug. 26 in Anaheim.

Kimbo, 42, was under contract with Bellator and expected to fight at the promotion's recent event in London, but passed away on June 6 in Florida. He died of heart failure.

Ferguson, Jr., who has one amateur bout under his belt, will now follow his father to the Bellator cage, a little less than three months after his passing. In his single amateur fight, Ferguson, Jr. showed similar punching power to famous father, knocking out Tim Brink in 1:23 of the first round.

The 24-year-old has trained off and on for years, but recently made the move to California to train under UFC and Bellator veteran Antonio McKee, alongside Bellator fighters A.J. McKee (Antonio's son), Bubba Jenkins, and Joey Davis.

Bellator does not yet have an opponent for Ferguson, Jr., but he will debut on the Bellator 160 fight card, which is headlined by Benson Henderson vs. Patricio “Pitbull” Freire at the Honda Center.
