Kickoff time, TV channel set for Clemson vs. The Citadel football game
The ACC has announced a kickoff time and TV channel for Clemson football’s home game against The Citadel next weekend.
The Tigers and the Bulldogs will kick off at 3:30 p.m. next Saturday, Nov. 23, the conference announced on Monday.
The CW will broadcast the game from Memorial Stadium.
Under coach Dabo Swinney, the Tigers generally play one in-state FCS opponent per season, with that game either coming very early or very late in their schedule.
The Citadel, a military college based in Charleston, is this year’s choice. The Bulldogs compete in the FCS Southern Conference and are currently 4-6 and 2-5 in conference play during coach Maurice Drayton’s first season.
Clemson is currently 7-2, 6-1 in the ACC and ranked No. 23 in the College Football Playoff Top 25. The Tigers won at Virginia Tech on Saturday and visit Pitt this Saturday in their last ACC game of the year (noon, ESPN).
Next week’s home game against The Citadel will serve as Clemson’s senior day before the Tigers host rival South Carolina in the Palmetto Bowl the following Saturday (Nov. 30) in Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers are 6-0 all-time against The Citadel, with the most recent meeting coming in 2020 (49-0 Clemson). Clemson is also a perfect 38-0 against FCS teams since the NCAA formed that second-tier division below FBS prior to the 1978 football season.
Clemson has also won 37 of those 38 games by double digits and has won each of its last 12 games against FCS opponents by at least 23 points. Last year, the Tigers beat Charleston Southern 66-17 (+49), although the game was tied 14-14 after a quarter.
