Kickoff time, TV channel set for Clemson vs. NC State football game

The Clemson football team has learned the kickoff time and TV channel for its ACC opener against NC State next weekend.

The ACC announced Monday that the Tigers and Wolfpack will kick off from Clemson’s Memorial Stadium at noon on Saturday, Sept. 21.

ABC will broadcast the game.

This is Clemson’s first “new” designation of 2024. The ACC traditionally announces kickoff times and TV channels for the first three games of every team’s season in the spring and announces them 10 days before each game from Week 4 and onward.

Coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers are off this weekend for the first of two scheduled bye weeks after a 66-20 win over App State last Saturday in which quarterback Cade Klubnik had seven total touchdowns.

It was a big bounceback win for the Tigers (1-1), who’d opened the season with a 31-point loss to No. 1 Georgia in Atlanta and nearly fell out of the AP Top 25.

Coach Dave Doeren and the Wolfpack host Louisiana Tech at home in Raleigh this week. NC State’s coming a 51-10 loss to Tennessee in the Duke’s Mayo Classic in Charlotte in which QB Grayson McCall and the offense struggled significantly.

NC State (1-1) was ranked No. 25 in the AP poll entering that game but dropped out completely and received zero voting points after the Tennessee loss, while the Vols rose seven spots from No. 14 to No. 7 after the blowout win.

Clemson leads the all-time series with NC State (known as the Textile Bowl) 60-30-1, and Swinney is 8-2 against the Wolfpack. Both losses have come in the last three years, though, as Clemson lost to NC State in Raleigh in 2021 and 2023.

Those marked Doeren’s first two wins against Clemson.

The Wolfpack have lost nine straight games when playing at Clemson. Their last win in Death Valley came in 2002, when future NFL great Philip Rivers was their starting quarterback.
