Key Real Madrid star picked up an injury during Atlético clash
A leading member of the first-team ranks at Real Madrid was tonight dealt a blow on the personnel front.
The player in question? Thibaut Courtois.
Goalkeeper Courtois, for his part, has taken his place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines late on Sunday.
As much comes owing to developments in the first Madrid Derby of the campaign.
En route to a 1-1 stalemate at the Wanda Metropolitano, Real Madrid’s no.1, during the 2nd-half, was targeted with a whole host of projectiles on the part of the home crowd.
So serious did the situation become, that the two sides were eventually hauled off the field of play by referee Mateo Busquets.
And, amid such tensions, Courtois, it has since been revealed, picked up an injury.
As per Fabrizio Romano, citing comments laid out by Real head coach Carlo Ancelotti, the Belgian international has suffered a muscular issue:
“He will undergo tests tomorrow,” Ancelotti confirmed.
