Key Inter Milan Defender To Be Benched In Champions League Clash Vs Bayer Leverkusen Amid Injury Fears
Alessandro Bastoni will start on the bench for Inter Milan against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League after an injury scare.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report Bastoni will be in the squad for the Champions League clash, but not risked from the start.
Bastoni had a bit of a fitness concern during Inter’s Serie A win over Parma on Friday.
The Italian international came off as a substitute in the 74th minute.
And the reason for the change was not tactical, nor was it just a matter of giving Bastoni a rest.
Rather, Bastoni had felt some tightness in his right thigh. Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi removed the 25-year-old so that he wouldn’t worsen any burgeoning injury.

It certainly appears that Bastoni caught his injury in time. The Gazzetta confirm that he has returned to training normally with the rest of his teammates.
Nevertheless, there is the worry that there is still a slight lingering muscle problem underlying for Bastoni.
Therefore, the Gazzetta reports, Inzaghi won’t risk the 25-year-old in the starting eleven against Bayer Leverkusen.
There’s no doubt that Bastoni is available to be in the squad.
But the Italian international will get a rest from the starting eleven.
