Kevin Spacey Vows He’ll Respond To Channel 4 Docuseries ‘Spacey Unmasked’

Kevin Spacey on Thursday has vowed to respond to new allegations that are being put forth in the docuseries Spacey Unmasked, which will air in the UK on Channel 4 on May 6-7 and also in the U.S. via Max and Investigation Discovery.

The docuseries, Channel 4 has said, “investigates Spacey’s conduct and talks to multiple men unconnected to [last year’s] case about their experiences with Kevin Spacey, almost all of whom have never spoken before.”

Spacey, who has faced multiple allegations of sexual assault and but last year was found not guilty on nine charges at London’s Southwark Crown Court relating to four men, says he has asked for a chance to respond to the docuseries’ content but has not been given sufficient time to do so.

“Over the last week, I have repeatedly requested that @Channel4 afford me more than 7 days to respond to allegations made against me dating back 48 years and provide me with sufficient details to investigate these matters,” Spacey said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) today. “Channel 4 has refused on the basis that they feel that asking for a response in 7 days to new, anonymized and non-specific allegations is a “fair opportunity” for me to refute any allegations made against me.

“I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network’s one-sided ‘documentary’ about me in their desperate attempt for ratings. There’s a proper channel to handle allegations against me and it’s not Channel 4.

Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.”

He added that he would provide his own response to the allegations in the docuseries this weekend on his X feed.

Spacey Unmasked was announced two years ago but had gone quiet until Channel 4 dropped a trailer last week and revealed the airdate. Produced by Mike Lerner and ex-Channel 4 News boss Dorothy Byrne, it features never-seen-before interviews and spotlights Spacey’s life from childhood to early success on Broadway and subsequent meteoric rise to stardom, before his fall.

It was picked up by Max and ID in the U.S. following a deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and distributor All3Media International.
