The Washington Commanders are moving on to the NFC championship game, and they've got one powerful NBA name in their corner — and their locker room. On Saturday, as the Commanders celebrated their 45-31 upset over the Detroit Lions, they had a special guest join the party: Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.

Durant, who was born and raised in D.C. and is a longtime Washington fan, supported his favorite team through the upset. He also got in a few well-placed barbs toward Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Commanders rookie cornerback Mike Sainristil — who had two key interceptions in the matchup — posted a video on his Instagram Story of Durant with the team postgame.

"Hey, what you gotta say though?" Sainristil asked Durant.

"Jahmyr, put your buffs on," Durant said — a reference to the Cartier sunglasses. The taunt prompted laughs and "oohs" from the Commanders' locker room.

Earlier in the matchup, Gibbs, who is known for his touchdown celebrations, had scored the first touchdown of the game and celebrated by mimicking a dance that Durant famously did pregame before the 2017 NBA Finals.

Durant did not take kindly to the tribute.

"I'm already sick of Jahmyr Gibbs. Move around somewhere bro damn," Durant wrote in response to the video on X.

Gibbs ended with 14 rushes for 105 yards and two touchdowns, but the team overall fell short. Both teams put up a historic second quarter in the high-scoring game — and Washington came out on top in the end.

After the game, Durant left Detroit with one more jab: a video of the original dance with the caption: "Have a great night Detroit."

The Commanders will now go on to the NFC championship game to play the winner of Sunday's Los Angeles Rams-Philadelphia Eagles divisional-round game. We'll have to see if Durant makes another locker room appearance next weekend.
