Kevin Denkey absent for Cercle Brugge amid Lille links
Kevin Denkey (23) missed Cercle Brugge’s defeat to Anderlecht on Sunday. Pre-match, the Belgian club confirmed that the Togolese striker was absent as he was in talks to complete a transfer.
Denkey has been strongly linked with a move away from Cercle Brugge in recent months. An announcement on his future now looks imminent. In the build-up to Sunday’s game, Cercle Brugge, AS Monaco’s affiliate club, posted a message on social media, stating that the striker had been given permission to have talks about a potential transfer, which “require his physical presence”.
This news comes amid reported interest from Lille OSC. Sacha Tavolieri has linked Les Dogues with Denkey. He may be considered as a potential replacement for Jonathan David, whose contract with LOSC expires at the end of the season. Given the Canada international’s contract situation, a departure in the upcoming January transfer window has even been touted. Could Denkey be the man to replace him?
