Manchester City’s vice-captain Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly subject to a staggering €150 million proposal from Saudi Arabia over a two-year period.

The 33-year-old continues to be at the centre of intense transfer speculation concerning a potential move to Saudi Arabia in the near future, whether that be during the ongoing summer market, or upon the expiry of his Manchester City agreement.

Those within the Etihad Stadium remain calm over the situation involving the Belgian, insisting on their belief that he will be wearing Sky Blue come the start of the upcoming campaign. However, there has been little to no update on his contractual situation.

Should De Bruyne and Manchester City not strike an agreement on an extended contract, then the player will be free to leave the Etihad Stadium next summer, and it appears as though plans are already being tenuously put in place.

That is the view within Belgian media, who insist that the player has been discussing potential opportunities away from Manchester City in the event of the Premier League champions not holding a desire to renew their working relationship beyond 2025.

According to the information of Het Nieuwsblad, as translated and relayed by Get Football, Kevin De Bruyne has held talks with unnamed clubs in Saudi Arabia over a move to the Middle-East at the end of his existing Manchester City contract – which expires in 2025.

It is explained that should the midfielder agree to the move next summer, with Manchester City ultimately receiving no transfer fee if the player is at the end of his contract, then he could earn €150 million over just two years.

Kevin De Bruyne has spoken on multiple occasions this summer about the prospect of moving to the Middle-East, insisting that the finances on offer could simply be too good to turn down in many ways.

Speaking in early June, De Bruyne said, “At my age you have to be open. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that. If I play there for two years, I’ll be able to earn an incredible amount.”

He continued, “Before that I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet. Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment I haven’t had to think about that yet.”

At present, the expectation within Manchester City remains that De Bruyne will return to the City Football Academy for training as expected on August 5, having been granted an extended break following a long season and his European Championship exploits with Belgium.
