Keenan Allen wants to 'run it back' with Bears next year
The Chicago Bears traded a fourth-round pick to the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason in exchange for veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen, and it's been all worth it for Chicago.
Even with the team underperforming their expectations on the season, Allen has come in and produced, including two separate games in which he has scored two touchdowns, and countless times where he's been targeted in crucial situations for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
With an offensive coordinator and head coach fired in his lone season in Chicago, on top of a six-game losing streak, Allen has not had the team success many, including him, had expected. Having just five games remaining on the season, the final year of his contract, Allen will enter free agency this offseason but he's not shutting down the idea of a return to Chicago.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Allen said he spoke with teammate DJ Moore who said he wants them to run it back next year, and he's open to doing so.
"Take it for what it is, obviously a new start for me, new position, new place. Talking with DJ [Moore] today and he wants me to run it back, so we'll see," Allen said.
When asked if he would want to run it back with Moore and the Bears, Allen's response was short but to the point: "Yeah, absolutely."

These comments from Allen should be a firm and decisive message to the front office, who should not hesitate to re-sign Allen and keep the core weapons around Williams as he heads into his sophomore year next season. Allen is a wanted commodity in the locker room, on the field, and among teammates and coaches, so it should be a no-brainer, and a top priority for Allen to be re-signed this offseason.
