KC Current fans helped catch a raccoon that ran through stands at CPKC Stadium

Kansas City Current fans had reason to be enthused about what they saw Tuesday night at CPKC Stadium.

With a 2-0 win over the North Carolina Courage, the Current advanced to the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup final.

But the excitement began before kickoff of that match at CPKC Stadium. That’s because a raccoon was spotted running in the stands during the other semifinal between Gotham City and Angel City.

Most of the fans made an effort to steer clear of the animal, but a couple of supporters in teal appeared to put their foot down.

That is, they trapped the raccoon until someone with the team was able to capture the animal and get it to safety. When you’re at a sporting event, you never know what you’ll see on a field. And that sometimes includes wildlife that interrupts a game.

But in this case, the action was in the stands. Here are videos and a photo of the raccoon at CPKC Stadium.
