Kawhi Leonard awarded Toronto's Key to the City

Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors already have the keys to the hearts of everyone in Canada. Now they’ve collectively been given the Key to the City of Toronto.

Mayor John Tory was on hand at the Raptors’ championship parade Monday and presented the honour to Leonard on stage in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans.

Tory seemed to be campaigning hard for Leonard to re-sign in Toronto this summer, going so far as to call him as “The King of the North” and “Your Majesty.” The mayor is also already planning the 2020 parade.

“You are family. You are one of us,” Tory said to Leonard. “This city and this country love you, and we look forward to seeing you and the whole team back next year to do this again.”

We all know Leonard likes to take things as literally as possible, so someone should give him a heads up that the Key to the City doesn’t actually open every door in the city. Then again, there probably isn’t anyone who wouldn’t open their door to the 2019 Finals MVP if he came knocking.
