Despite reports that KawhI Leonard did not want to play in Toronto, the two-time NBA All-Star has arrived north of the border.
And he is even smiling in the picture… kinda, but that still has to count for something.
It’s a collective sigh of relief for Raptors fans and management after reports that the 2014 Finals MVP had no interest in playing with Toronto.
On Friday during a press conference, Raptors president Masai Ujiri stressed the idea of selling Leonard, who only has one year remaining on his contract, on living in Toronto and playing for the team.
“I think there’s a lot to sell here,” the Raps’ executive said about the city. “Our team, our culture, our city, our ownership. We have everything here except a championship, in my humble opinion.”
Now that Leonard is in Toronto, Raptors management must shift their focus to keeping him past 2019.
