Coach Chris Klieman has added a pair of new transfers to the Kansas State football roster.

The Wildcats stayed busy in the transfer portal this weekend when they landed incoming players from Nebraska and South Alabama.

Gabe Ervin, a 6-foot-1 and 220-pound, running back was the first to commit to K-State. Ervin entered the portal as a graduate transfer and will continue his college football career in Manhattan, where the Wildcats will look to use him as a power runner.

Ervin rushed for 455 yards and five touchdowns in his time with the Cornhuskers. He figures to help the Wildcats replace the powerful running style of DJ Giddens as they turn more to Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson next season.

K-State also bolstered its defense with a new transfer.

Amarion Fortenberry, a 5-foot-11 and 175-pound defensive back from South Alabama, is ready to help K-State’s secondary. He had an impressive debut season with the Jaguars as a freshman on his way to 45 tackles and two interceptions.

K-State will look to Fortenberry to help replace the losses of Keenan Garber and Jacob Parrish at cornerback.

The Wildcats have now landed nine incoming transfers during the recruiting cycle. Ervin and Fortenberry join Jerand Bradley (Boston College), Gunner Maldonado (Arizona), Mar’Quavious Moss (West Georgia), Gabe Powers (Ohio State), Jayden Rowe (Oklahoma), Amos Talalele (USC) and Jaron Tibbs (Purdue).
