Which Kansas Jayhawks and K-State Wildcats were named 2025 McDonald’s All-Americans?

CVCA’s Darryn Peterson drives to the basket past St. Vincent-St. Mary’s Torell Hopson in the first half at Canton Memorial Civic Center, Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023.

Future Kansas basketball players Darryn Peterson of Prolific Prep and Jaliya Davis of Blue Valley North High School — as well as future Kansas State player Jordan Speiser of Lutheran High in St. Peters, Missouri — will participate in the McDonald’s All-American boys and girls games on April 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, it was announced Monday.

Davis, a 6-2 small forward from Leawood, becomes the third McDonald’s All-American in KU women’s basketball history and the second to sign with the Jayhawks out of high school. KU’s previous signee was Lauren Ervin, who played in the 2003 event.

Jessica Washington was picked to play in the 2013 game. Washington played two seasons at North Carolina before transferring to Kansas for the 2016-17 season.

Davis recently became the all-time leading scorer in the Blue Valley North High history. She is rated a five-star prospect and the country’s No. 17 recruit by ESPNW, becoming the highest-ranked player to sign at Kansas during coach Brandon Schneider’s tenure.

Speiser, a 6-1 guard, is a five-star prospect ranked sixth overall in the Class of 2025 by On3 and 10th overall by ESPNHoopGurlz.

Speiser is ranked 14th in the country by ProspectsNation.com and the No. 5 wing in the country. According to 247Sports, Speiser is ranked 19th overall, rated as the No. 4 shooting guard in the country.

During the summer, Speiser shot 54.5% at Nike Nationals and had an overall EYBL shooting percentage of 47.3%. During her career at Lutheran of St. Charles County, Speiser is a two-time Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) all-state Class 5 selection and a two-time MBCA Class 5 District 4 pick.

Peterson, meanwhile, gives Kansas 52 signees who have earned the McDonald’s honor, starting with Darnell Valentine in 1977. Current Jayhawks Elmarko Jackson (2023) and Flory Bidunga (2024) were named McDonald’s All-Americans.

A 6-5 guard from Canton, Ohio, Peterson is nationally ranked No. 2 by ESPN and 247Sports and No. 3 by Rivals. On the 2025 Naismith Trophy Boys High School Player of the Year Watch List, Peterson is playing his senior prep season at Prolific Prep in Napa, California, where he is averaging 23.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game.

Peterson played his first two years of high school basketball at Cuyahoga Falls High School in Cuyahoga, Ohio. He transferred to Huntington Prep in West Virginia in 2023-24 before heading to Prolific Prep. For Phenom United AAU, he averaged 28.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 4.2 steals and 3.0 blocked shots per game this past summer in the Adidas 3Stripes Select league.

In 2023, Peterson won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. He was an all-tournament pick after averaging 16.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.3 steals.
