Three storylines for Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills

Patrick Mahomes vs. Josh Allen

Both Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen can make the spectacular happen. They’re two of the best in football, and they’ve combined for some classics.

They’ve also both reinvented themselves.

In fact, Allen has followed in the footsteps of Mahomes, and that has made him all the more dangerous as their fourth playoff meeting approaches.

Did they hold something back?

These teams met in the regular season, when the Bills handed the Chiefs their only loss (when their starters played). But that’s happened before — the Bills getting the better of the Chiefs in the regular season, only for the favor to be returned in January.

The Chiefs tend to break out some new looks when the postseason rolls around. That actually includes one of the most famous plays in Chiefs history ... which was (let’s say) borrowed from Buffalo.

A three-peat at stake

The good news for KC: Today’s game will be at home. The Arrowhead advantage could give the Chiefs an edge in a game of razor-thin margins. And if you’re a longtime Chiefs fan, you’ll know it wasn’t always that way.

Before the Mahomes era, the Chiefs suffered constant postseason heartbreak — and even went decades between playoff wins. Those days are gone. And a win at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium would put KC on the doorstep of history.
