Kansas’ AJ Storr leads Team Bahamas in scoring in Thursday’s 102-75 loss to Greece

Kansas junior guard AJ Storr scored a team-high 14 points in the Bahamas National Team’s 102-75 loss to Greece on Thursday at the Greek Basketball Federation’s Acropolis Tournament in Piraeus, Greece.

The 6-foot-7 Storr, who has transferred to KU from Wisconsin, opened the two-day tourney by scoring 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting in Wednesday’s 93-80 loss to Montenegro.

No shooting stats for Storr were available for Thursday’s contest, which for Storr and Team Bahamas served as a tuneup for the Olympic qualifying tournament July 2-7 in Valencia, Spain. NBA players Eric Gordon and Deandre Ayton did not play in Thursday’s game for Team Bahamas.

Milwaukee Bucks standout Giannis Antetokounmpo of Greece scored 14 points with five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Konstantinos Mitoglou had 18 points, while Nick Calathes had seven points and 11 assists for the winning team.

Storr, who is from Rockford, Illinois, is eligible to play for the Bahamian National Team because his father, Ambrozino Storr Sr., was born in Nassau, Bahamas.

Bahamas, which has never qualified for the Olympics in a team sport, will battle five other countries for a spot in the Olympics in Spain. Bahamas will open with Finland on July 2 and Poland on July 3.

Last August, Storr averaged 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in a pair of exhibition games against KU. The Jayhawks and Team Bahamas split the pair of games.

The Olympics are set for July 27 to August 11 in Paris, France.
