Kaapo Kakko Reportedly Generating The Most Interest Among All Rangers Players Via Trade

It’s not just Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba who could be traded from the New York Rangers.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Rangers general manager Chris Drury is using this time to see what he can and can’t do on the trade market.

Emily Kaplan of ESPN provided some insight on the interest that Kaapo Kakko is garnering from other teams.

“I do think that Chris Drury is having a lot of conversations,” Kaplan said. “Kaapo Kakko is the one player I think that is generating the most interest right now.”

Despite rumors swirling that the Rangers would trade Kakko over the offseason, he ultimately signed a one-year, $2.4 million contract extension to remain in New York.

The 23-year-old has recorded four goals, nine assists and 13 points in 24 games as he continues to make strides.

Kakko was also named to Team Finland for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off which will feature some of the best players in the NHL.
