K-State expected to join Nebraska at future basketball tournament in Kansas City

Jerome Tang, K-State head coach, addresses the media during Big 12 Basketball Media Day on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

The Kansas State basketball team won’t have to travel far for its annual November tournament next season.

K-State is expected to play in the 2025 Hall of Fame Classic at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

According to a report from college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein, Nebraska and Mississippi State will join the Wildcats at the event. The tournament is still working to lock in a fourth team on the bracket.

Matchups and a full schedule will be announced at a later time.

Next month, the 2024 edition of the Hall of Fame Classic will feature Boston College, Colorado State, Creighton and Loyola-Chicago. Games are scheduled to be played on Nov. 22 and 23.

K-State has been a regular at the Hall of Fame Classic over the years. The Wildcats most recently competed in the event during the 2021-22 season when they lost to Arkansas and Illinois by identical scores of 72-64.

They also played there in 2015 and 2010. In those seasons, K-State reached the championship game of the event but lost entertaining games against Duke and North Carolina.

The Wildcats will begin the 2024-25 season next week when they host New Orleans at 7 p.m. on Tuesday inside Bramlage Coliseum.
