Juventus and Newcastle United are reportedly weighing up a blockbuster swap deal involving Douglas Luiz and Sandro Tonali. According to Calciomercato, it would be a win-win agreement for all parties as both players seek a way out of their respective clubs.

Douglas Luiz joined Juventus from Aston Villa last summer but failed to settle in the new surroundings. After an injury-hit start to the season and constant problems with lackluster performances, the Brazilian is ready to pack his bags and leave Turin.

Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly willing to offer the Juventus misfit an escape route from the Allianz Stadium. However, the Magpies have recently joined the picture as Eddie Howe bids to strengthen his midfield options amid a fierce top-four battle in the Premier League.

Furthermore, Tonali is seemingly unsatisfied with life at St James’ Park. The former Milan star would return to Serie A in a heartbeat after reluctantly swapping the San Siro for Newcastle in a mega-money deal in the summer of 2023.

Therefore, a simple idea springs to mind. With players eager to embark on new adventures and clubs seeking midfield reinforcements, a swap deal would be mutually beneficial. It would’ve been one of the most high-profile exchanges in recent memory.

But it wouldn’t be the first time Juventus traded midfielders. Indeed, nearly five years ago, Arthur Melo joined the Bianconeri from Barcelona, while Miralem Pjanic went in the opposite direction. It would prove one of the worst transfer dealings in football history.
