Juventus are set to beat Borussia Dortmund to the signing of Chelsea’s Renato Veiga
According to Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund are set to miss out on Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, who is now Juventus-bound.
Earlier in the transfer window, it had been reported that Die Schwarzgelben were looking into the possibility of loaning Veiga from Chelsea, in hopes of reinforcing the left-hand side of their backline.
However, since then, Juventus have made their interest in the Portuguese international clear, as the Italian outfit prepared to go head-to-head with Dortmund for his signature.
As stated in the report, the Serie A side have matched Chelsea’s asking price for the defender.
It is understood that the Premier League outfit were demanding a loan fee of €5-6 million for Veiga, a price tag that BvB were unwilling to match, only offering the Blues €2.5-3 million.
Despite reaching a verbal agreement with Dortmund, with the aim of returning to the Bundesliga, Veiga will now make the temporary move to Turin.
Die Schwarzgelben will need to look elsewhere to strengthen their backline before the January transfer window closes on February 3rd.
