Juventus outcast Danilo prefers Flamengo to Napoli
According to Sky Sport Italia, Danilo has decided to return home to Brazil for Flamengo after leaving Juventus, rather than stay in Serie A with Napoli.
The former captain had been frozen out in 2025 by coach Thiago Motta, who along with the club ruled that he was no longer part of their plans for the future.
Danilo and his entourage have been negotiating a termination of the contract by mutual consent and this will make him a free agent to agree terms with any club he wishes.
Home is calling for Danilo
There had been strong reports for weeks that Napoli had approached the Brazilian and wanted him to effectively replace injured Alessandro Buongiorno in Antonio Conte’s squad.
However, Sky Sport Italia report this evening that Danilo has instead chosen a return home to Brazil for Flamengo and is discussing the final details of that transfer.
It was a personal decision as much as a football one, marking the 33-year-old’s move back to South America for the first time since 2011.
He left Santos for FC Porto in that year, going on to Real Madrid, Manchester City and since 2019 has been at Juve
