Juventus Midfielder Blasts His Team Performance in Turin Derby – “We Concede Too Easily”
Juventus spurned a presentable opportunity to close the gap on fourth-placed Lazio as Torino held them to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s Turin derby. Teun Koopmeiners addressed the media after Juve’s stomach-wrenching 12th draw in 19 Serie A matches under Thiago Motta.
Kenan Yildiz bagged a stunner to put Juventus in front only eight minutes into the game. However, Nikola Vlasic’s thunderous half-volley undid the Turkish starlet’s heroics, throwing Bianconeri’s faint title hopes into further doubt.
In all fairness, a record-extending 37th Scudetto is now a pipe dream for Juventus. They trail table-topping Napoli by 11 points and would need a miracle to climb the throne come May. Therefore, completing the first half of the season as the only unbeaten team in Serie A is a mere consolation.
“We are unhappy; we controlled the game and scored a great goal. We pressed high, but it’s not possible to concede one minute before half-time,” Koopmeiners told DAZN after the game, as reported by Ilbianconero.com.
“We must take responsibility and work more, including myself,” the Juventus midfielder continued. “We had a few chances in the second half, but it can’t be enough. We lack a bit of everything. We must feel urgency and responsibility in the games.
“There are moments when we play well and have chances, but we don’t do it for 90 minutes. We must improve and score more goals. We concede too easily. We had a numerical advantage inside the box, and they still scored; it’s not possible.
