Juventus leading race for Alberto Costa after Brighton snub
Multiple sources claim that Juventus are in advanced negotiations with Vitoria Guimaraes for right-back Alberto Costa after he ‘turned down’ Brighton and Hove Albion.
Matteo Moretto of Relevo and Sportitalia director Alfredo Pedullà both claim that talks are in full swing for Costa to reinforce the defence in January.
There are quite a few clubs interested in him, including Roma, Sporting CP, Benfica and FC Porto, while Milan looked at the right-back before turning towards Kyle Walker.
Alberto Costa turned down Brighton
Vitoria Guimaraes President Antonio Miguel Cardoso told Grupo Santiago this weekend that Alberto Costa had rejected a Premier League move to Brighton.
“We had an agreement with another club and Alberto didn’t want to go. Regarding Sporting, we don’t know anything.”
However, Juventus would seem to be the favourites, even though it will be a costly operation, considering he only recently extended his contract to June 2028.
Brighton had reportedly bid €12m plus another €2m in add-ons, more than Sporting CP and probably superior to the Juventus proposal too.
O Jogo report the player only wants a club that is competing in Europe and seeking silverware.
Juventus have said they will bring in two defenders this January to replace Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal after serious knee injuries.
