Juventus director claims Danilo is ‘on the market’ and makes Zirkzee admission
Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli conceded Danilo is ‘on the market’ but they are currently ‘looking for a solution’ that pleases both parties, also adding the Bianconeri are keen to ‘strengthen the defence’.
The Brazilian is on his way out of the Allianz Stadium, as rumours about a potential move to Antonio Conte’s Napoli have intensified in recent weeks, but Giuntoli explained ‘there must be mutual agreement’ to let the veteran go.
The Old Lady has also been repeatedly linked with the signing of Joshua Zirkzee, especially after the striker was subbed off after 33 minutes in his latest game for Manchester United, although the club’s football director did not want to ‘mention names’, albeit admitting they are ‘keeping an eye on any interesting opportunities’.
Giuntoli: Juventus will consider ‘interesting opportunities’, Danilo ‘on the market’
“We found an agreement with his entourage, and we are looking for a solution that works for both him and Juventus,” Giuntoli told Lega Serie A ahead of the Bianconeri’s clash with Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal, as quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport.
“When a player is on the market, there must be mutual agreement between both parties.
“Zirkzee? It’s not appropriate to mention names, but we are keeping an eye on any interesting opportunities, and we will move to strengthen the defence.”
Finally, the director remains confident that Juventus are heading in the right direction by choosing to invest in young players, despite needing to wait before reaping fruits: “It will definitely be a virtuous path,” he concluded.
“We are convinced of the direction we’re heading to; it just takes a bit of time.”
