'We Just Weren't Able To Find The Back Of The Net Enough: Rod Brind'Amour On Loss To New Jersey

The Carolina Hurricanes fell 4-2 to the New Jersey Devils Friday night at Prudential Center.

Eric Robinson and Brent Burns scored for Carolina, but there just wasn't enough offensive production overall to overcome the Devils' scoring.

After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour spoke with the media. Here's what he had to say:

Rod Brind'Amour

On the difference in the game:
We played a real good team and I thought we went toe-to-toe. I thought their goalie was the difference. He made some real key saves at the right time for them and they were able to capitalize on their chances. I think that was the difference tonight.

On his team's game: I liked our game overall. They're going to have their shifts and they did, but overall I liked how we played. We generated enough offense to win. Giving up four is not what we want to do, but we didn't really give up a ton of opportunities, so overall I didn't mind the game at all. We just have to capitalize. We had our chances. You have to bury them and we didn't.

On facing New Jersey again on Saturday: Obviously both teams know how to play against each other. There's no secrets there. We have to find a way to get a few more past them.

On Jacob Markstrom making the Devils a better overall team: You watched the game, right? I mean, it's pretty obvious. They had their couple of chances and they were in the net. We had them and they didn't. What's the difference? People will make a bigger deal out of it but that's pretty much what it boiled down to tonight.

On Eric Robinson: He played really well tonight. Scored and he was just one of our better players. He was all over it. Really, that line did a nice job tonight. Like I said, we had a few chances there... Walker played really well and had one in front all alone too as a defenseman joining the rush there. A couple of nice plays but we just weren't able to find the back of the net enough.
