'We Just Think There's One Way To Win A Game': Ryan Warsofsky Explains Low Point In Sharks Season

After Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Florida Panthers, the growing theme of the San Jose Sharks season is that this is the low point.

Three players and head coach Ryan Warsofsky were asked the question following the dismantling loss.

"That one stings. We've had a lot of these types of games, and I shouldn't say a lot of these types of games, but some losses have piled up again," Warsofsky said postgame. "We know we can do it. It's not like we haven't been able to do it, put games together and win some hockey games and be in games. We know we can do it, but now we gotta push through this mental block of getting deflated at certain times when things don't go our way."

San Jose played a strong back-and-forth style in the first period but still came out behind 3-2. Will Smith extended his point streak to four games with a go-ahead goal.

Smith wasn't shy about the team not performing in front of a sold-out SAP Center crowd.

"It's embarrassing for us to do this in front of our home crowd," Smith said. "We have a tight group here, and we obviously want to be better for the fans and just us in general in this room. We want to be better for each other."

Warsofsky told reporters that he doesn't think there is an identity problem, but a problem is creeping into the room about how the players think they should play.

"I think it's just we get bored with it. We get bored when maybe we don't score goals, or maybe nothing happens. We can't just be okay with nothing happening," Warsofsky said. "That's what good teams do. You grind out games. You find different ways to win games. We just think there's one way to win a game, and that's cheating the game at times."

Warsofsky reiterated his message that it is hard to win in the NHL.

"I sound like a broken record here, but that's just, again, it comes back to how hard it is to do it, and it's hard. It is extremely hard," Warsofsky said. "No one's saying it's easy, but if you're a competitor and you want to win, you have to do it. You have to do it each and every night.
