The international break is almost over – but there’s still space for a little bit more big-picture content.

The London is Blue podcast have done just that today – with a special look at Chelsea’s South American talents. There’s been a huge amount of focus on Estevao Willian, who will arrive at the club next summer and hopes to make an instant impact as one of the most exciting young players in the world.

But what of one of the players who has already been part of the squad, and is already making a major impact in a top European league? Andrey Santos maybe suffers from playing a less exciting position that Estevao, but he’s almost as highly rated, and looks almost ready to deliver already.

You can see their discussion in the clip embedded here, with their comment on Santos coming after 17 minutes:

Experts all over Santos impact

The two Brazilians asked for their take on Santos agreed that the midfielder is “absolutely thriving”, and in particular his personality was praised:

“It was very, very obvious that from a young age he had the right mentality… he has been captain for Brazil’s youth teams. He just gets it. He has that way to be very mature. The way that he speaks, the way that he plays, the way that he trains and how he deals with everything, it’s beyond his years,” was one take.

“He’s the complete midfielder we always talk about… now we’re seeing the end product. Which is crazy because he’s just 20, 21. What he’s been delivering is just insane.”

Estevao has the talent, but we’re not sure on the personality yet. Santos has the personality without question. That’s such a promising thing to hear for Blues fans hoping to see him make an impact sooner rather than later.
