Journalist shares why Nkunku was left seething with Joao Felix during Chelsea’s defeat to Ipswich
Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix were handed rare starts against Ipswich, but the Frenchman was left fuming with his team-mate according to reports.
The Blues turned in a poor performance as they lost 2-0 at Portman Road to hand the hosts their first home win of the season.
Chelsea transfer target Liam Delap won and converted a penalty, before former Blue Omari Hutchinson scored after the break to condemn Enzo Maresca’s men to back to back defeats.
Nkunku left fuming with Felix
Maresca had stated in the build-up he would make changes and he did exactly that by fielding an entirely different attack bar Cole Palmer.
Noni Madueke was restored to the line-up whilst Nkunku and Felix came in with both Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho dropping to the bench.
It was a rare opportunity to impress for both Felix and Nkunku who were starting just their third league games of the season.
Nkunku, who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge struggled to make an impact, whilst Felix fared slightly better, having a goal disallowed, before being removed after Chelsea went 2-0 down inside the first ten minutes of the second half.
It’s been difficult for Felix this season, although Fabrizio Romano has clarified Chelsea’s stance on the 25-year-old after reports emerged that he might be considering an exit from Stamford Bridge.
Football London have reported that Nkunku was left fuming with Felix, after the Portuguese had an opportunity to play the ball to the France International who was in a better position, but he instead took the shot on which was easily saved.

The report adds that Nkunku was left fuming and the Frenchman waved his arms about before shouting at Felix, who did apologise for not passing the ball.
It was a frustrating night for the pair, and they failed to take the opportunity to show Maresca that they should be featuring on a more regular basis in the league.
