Josh Richardson fined $25K for throwing shoe into stands

On Sunday, Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson was ejected for throwing a shoe into the stands in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Monday, he paid the price. The NBA fined Richardson $25,000 for the incident that saw him chuck his left shoe into the crowd, frustrated over not getting a foul call on a dunk attempt.

Frustration took over for Richardson

His shoe came loose after the missed dunk, and he picked up a foul of his own against LeBron James on the ensuing Lakers possession while playing with one shoe.

When he walked to the bench carrying his left shoe, he attempted to untie it to put it back on. Frustration boiled over when he had trouble untying it, leading to a fan walking away with an unexpected souvenir.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Richardson said after the game. “It was a series of events. I got caught up.

“I wasn’t really thinking about much. I was thinking about how frustrated I was. And going forward I can’t let that happen.”
