Jose Bautista recalls his legendary bat flip from 2015 ALDS

Any Blue Jays fan who was watching Game 5 of the 2015 ALDS remembers where they were the night Jose Bautista gave the world the greatest bat flip of all time.

In a game that was filled with every emotion, the Blue Jays slugger helped rally the team from a 3-2 deficit by delivering a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning that put the Jays ahead for good.

“I figured that at some point I was going to get at least one good shot to get a good swing off,” Joey Bats shared when recalling the moment. “After I got into a hitters count I decided to be a little more aggressive.”

Bautista’s ability to deliver in big moments is what’s made him one of the best players in Blue Jays history.
“In moments like that where the situation is big, and there is very little room for mistake, people go to their comfort level,” the six-time all-star pointed out. “And I know that he had way more comfort with a sinker than any other pitch at that point.”

While it is great to appreciate the physical side of Bautista’s game-winning three-run homer, what shouldn’t go unnoticed is the psychological brilliance that ultimately made it happen.
