Masvidal was seen in a video outside of Papi Steak late on Monday night in Miami Beach confronting Covington, and can be heard screaming, “Don’t talk about my kids.” Miami Beach police said on Tuesday that Covington told them that Masvidal “ran up to him from his left and without notice punched him with a closed fist two times in the face.”
Covington reportedly sustained a fractured front tooth and an abrasion on his left wrist.
“He’s over here swinging, trying to come at me, and I ran,” Covington told police in a video obtained by TMZ Sports before he turned to a friend and asked, “How would [Masvidal] know I’m here?”
Masvidal tweeted multiple times after the incident, and called Covington out in a video.
Good morning to everyone except those that think talking about someone’s kids is cool

“What’s up, I’m from Dade County,” he said. “You talk that s*** you got to back it up. That’s how my city rolls, man.”
The incident came just weeks after Covington’s dominant win over Masvidal at UFC 272 in Las Vegas. Covington called himself the “f***ing King of Miami” after that win, a clear shot at Masvidal, who is a Miami native.
