Jordan Addison, Zack Moss lead candidates to drop from your fantasy lineup this week
Another week of NFL action has brought some surprises in the fantasy football landscape. Week 8 saw breakout performances from the Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts, Tampa Bay Buccaners tight end Cade Otton, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman, and Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey which likely impacted matchups throughout the league.
But there were multiple disappointments in Week 8 that should lead to some tough decisions for fantasy football managers. Here are five players to cut after a subpar performance this week.
Waiver wire players to cut after Week 8
WR Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings
Addison had four total touches for 73 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4 in a top-five WR performance. Since then, he's had eight total catches for 124 yards and zero touchdowns over the next three games. With tight end T.J. Hockenson looking poised to return to the lineup in Week 9, Addison's target share may go down.
WR DeMario Douglas, New England Patriots
Douglas shined in Drake Maye's debut with six catches for 92 yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans in Week 6. In the ensuing two weeks, he's totaled four catches for 26 yards. The pass-catching hierarchy in New England remains unsettled aside from tight end Hunter Henry, whose led the team in receptions in two of Maye's three starts.
RB Zack Moss, Cincinnati Bengals
Moss scored double-digit points in all formats three times in the first four games. In that span, he averaged 15 touches and 70 yards per game and scored a combined three touchdowns. Since then, he's averaged just over nine touches and 36 yards per game and is scoreless.
Teammate Chase Brown has out-touched Moss every week since that Week 4 win over Carolina. At this point, Moss can't be relied upon to provide more than a handful of points per week.
WR Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles Rams
The Rams welcomed back top wideouts Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua to the lineup in Week 8 and Atwell's production plummeted. From Week 2 through Week 7, Atwell saw seven targets per week that he converted to an average of five catches for 83 yards. In Week 8, he had two targets that led to one catch for 18 yards.
So long as Kupp and Nacua are healthy, Atwell is a low-end WR3 for your lineup at best.
WR Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears
Odunze broke out in Week 3 with six catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Since then, he's yet to break 50 yards receiving. DJ Moore remains the top target in the passing game for Chicago. Behind him, it's between Odunze, Keenan Allen, and Cole Kmet to sort out the rest of the target share.
Until Odunze can sustain more than six or seven points per game in standard leagues, he's not worth a roster spot.
